TELEMEDX EEG ServicesThe era of digital technology certainly has been embraced within the medical community whether it has been utilized for diagnostic, treatment, surgical or business applications. TMX has provided mostly analog technology since its inception. This can be attributed to the physiology of the brain and the telecommunication networks operating throughout rural America. With most networks converting to digital; TMX took the next natural step to meet this new digital demand. In keeping with its pioneering spirit, TMX contracted with Cadwell Laboratories to design and implement a fully digital EEG receiving laboratory. Instead of graphing out EEGs on paper with ink, TELEMEDX converted its entire laboratory to computers, thus making available to the medical community the world’s first all-digital EEG receiving laboratory. Such action has enabled TMX to continue meeting the needs of its vast network of hospitals. In addition, this state-of-the-art facility has been configured to assist the expansion of TMX services with current and future technology. Digital EEG Records![]() 32-channel digital EEG system
TMX is able to interpret EEGs from facilities that already have their own EEG equipment, or TMX will provide: (1) a 32-channel Digital EEG system including amplifier, flash stimulator and stand, head box, and recording/receiving software, power supply/splitter box (2) the technical processing, (3) the professional interpretation, and (4) the patient’s report e-mailed or faxed to the hospital within 24 hours. The cost of the service is provided on a per EEG basis, certain restrictions apply. Hospital shall provide a desktop or laptop computer with Pentium 120MHz or higher, Windows 95 or later, and 500MB of free disk space, archive device, 10 base T connector and network card. The equipment is the most portable EEG instrument ever built and lets a technician quickly change montages, filters, or sensitivity to focus on significant activity. In addition to 32-channel EEG recording, options include adding spike detection and sleep recording software. After an EEG is recorded, hospital personnel can either transfer the information to TMX digitally over the Internet or download the data to a CD and ship to TMX. Digital EEG records can be sent via a FTP server with broadband capabilities - the secure way Analog EEG Transmissions![]() TMX Telemetry Analog System
The TMX telephonic transmitter is compact, portable and fully FDA compliant, allowing patient testing to be performed outside the EEG department. A TMX telemetry system can be provided to a facility along with the necessary operational training material for its existing allied health personnel, thus eliminating the need for another full-time employee. A hospital employee prepares the patient, establishes a phone line connection with the TMX receiving center and then assists the TMX receiving technician in producing a record for interpretation. Except for the method of recording a patient’s data, the review, storage and interpretation is the same as the digital service offered. All patient data is stored on a server and backed-up daily. No more paper records to ship back to the hospital for storage but should a patient’s physician request their record, the file can be retrieved and stored on a CD and shipped for review. |
